Introduction

The Cronos blockchain created by Crypto.com has gained rapid traction since the launch of its mainnet in November 2021, making strong progress in areas such as DeFi and GameFi for example. However, with its ambition to serve as the foundation on which the metaverse and Web3 is built, perhaps the real potential for Cronos lies in non-fungible tokens.

As Crypto.com’s ambitious project begins to take shape it’s building an ecosystem that is quite distinct from those of other chains, as the following list of upcoming NFT projects on Cronos will show: 

Cronos Primate Business

No doubt inspired by the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs on Ethereum, Cronos Primate Business is an exclusive collection of 6,100 uniquely generated NFTs, with each one based on 10+ attributes that have varying levels of rarity. 

What’s unique about CPB is that it’s also a game, set in a fantasy kingdom ruled by the Monkey King. However, the Monkey King, in his desire for greatness, was slowly consumed by madness that brought about an end to his reign. Now, there are four GCB factions vying for control of the empire - MAFIA, AQUA, IGNIS, and TERRA. 

Holders of CPB NFTs belong to one of the four above factions and get to participate in regular CPB Warfare, where they can compete in teams against the other factors to win prizes in CRO and CPB tokens plus personalized NFTs for each winning team member. 

Of course, the CPB NFTs provide plenty of other utility with coming updates to include a Raffle and Auctions and the launch of additional NFT collections including ape companions, purchasable only with CPB tokens, and evolved primates that promise higher utility and benefits than the first two NFT collections. 

Carkayous

The creation of the famed tattoo artist Jesse Smith, Carkayous is a fictional continent that’s home to a gang of crazy creatures and endless imagination. 

Smith created the concept of Carkayous in his head over a decade ago. The continent is the home of the many weird and wonderful creatures featured in his tattoos and other art, and the NFT collection represents the first public expedition into this uncharted territory. Legend has it that during an earlier expedition to Carkayous in 2014, Smith traveled to Durken Forest, just northeast of Killick Falls Lagoon on Ferchett’s island. There, he discovered that all of the creatures from Carakayous gather around the lake to witness mushroom-shaped psilofish reach maturity and transform themselves into jellyfish-like beings that glow in the dark and float around the forest where they play a vital role in its ecosystem. Smith relates that the annual event has a calming effect on the other creatures in the forest, allowing them to co-exist in peace. 

Smith is now embarking on the eighth expedition to Carkayous, bringing NFT collectors along with him for the first time to help document the unusual phenomenon. 

Lazy Horse Race Club

A metaverse horse racing world that connects to real-life horse racing via club membership associated with Cronos NFTs, the Lazy Horse Race Club is a truly unique project in every sense. 

The ecosystem consists of multiple parts including three digital assets. The HORSE NFTs are founding member NFTs that represent real-world racehorses, PONY NFTs for Lazy Horse Club members, and LHRC, which is the platform’s in-game cryptocurrency. 

With Lazy Horse Race Club, NFT owners have the chance to enter stakes races and “race to earn” LHRC tokens. They can enter their Lazy Horses into races against other HORSE NFT owners, earning LHRC tokens both for competing in the races and finishing in the winning positions. But there’s a strategic element too, with players required to spend LHRC to upgrade their HORSES and accelerate their time to recovery after each race. Add to that, players can also choose to retire one of the original 10,000 HORSES and opt to breed them instead to create newer racehorses and attempt to train the next-generation equine champion. 

Croke NFT

Croke NFT is an unusual collection that’s quite unlike any other, attempting to draw attention to the dangers of drug abuse as each NFT character goes through a three-stage evolution from drug addicts to clean cronies, in an effort to represent the difficulty of coming clean. 

The collection aims to highlight just how difficult it is to come clean by putting limits on how many of the NFTs from the original 4,200 can actually transform and progress to the next stages. 

Stage one sees each NFT begin their life as a “casual snorter”, before they eventually fall apart and become a full-fledged “addict” that goes down the rabbit hole to a world of drug-addled confusion and misery. Finally, the NFTs will attempt to overcome their addiction by getting clean and sober, with the lucky winners who’re able to do so presented with unique, yet-to-be-developed staking opportunities.

CyberClone

A limited-edition collection of 1,000 uniquely generated NFTs, each CyberClone is inspired by a vision of a futuristic life in the year 2234, in a world that’s falling apart and under the control of the CyberClones! NFT holders will be pitted against one another to battle for control of this dark, clone-dominated world. 

As well as mini-games and staking, CyberClone NFT holders will also gain membership to the CyberClone DAO and vote on the future of the community. Holders will also be allowed exclusive access to the CyberClone application on Android and iOS which will provide a multitude of so-far unknown benefits. 

Crowboys

Crowboys is an NFT-based Wild West shooting game that incorporates Game-Fi elements. Each game character is represented by a Crowboy NFT with its own unique utility and value. The game incorporates two cryptocurrency tokens, WILD and WEST, with the former used across all Crowboy environments and the latter used for in-game transactions only. 

Players who purchase a Crowboys NFT will gain access to the West City metaverse, which they can explore and meet other players, duel against opponents to win WILD and WEST tokens, and steep themselves in unprecedented glory. The game includes multiple mini-games with unique challenges for players to compete in, as well as various special events. 

As well as their unique game characteristics, the Crowboy NFTs can also be upgraded with unique items such as skins, guns, avatars, and even horses. Each of these assets is represented by its own NFT, allowing players to own the various clothes they wear and the equipment they use. 

ALIENFT

Targeted at like-minded individuals who appreciate alien-inspired art and the ability to earn a passive income, ALIENFT is a limited collection of 2,500 NFTs featuring various hand-drawn attributes generated from more than 100 unique traits in eight categories. 

The aim of the project is to provide value to NFT collectors with a focus on utility around NFT staking with royalty sharing on secondary sales. The ALIENFT collection is aimed at fans of high-quality art that want to invest in a passive income stream by staking their NFTs for PROBE tokens. PROBE is a utility token that can be used to mate ALIENFT NFTs to create a second generation that can be traded on the project’s upcoming marketplace. ALIENFT holders also gain voting rights through the project’s DAO, while those who own five or more ALIENFTs will also be eligible for airdrops. 

The Laboratory 

The Laboratory is the home of the Crazy Scientists, a unique collection of 5,555 algorithmically generated NFTs that boast some of the most interesting and varied functionality of all tokens on the Cronos chain. 

The utility includes an exciting play-to-earn card battle game called Lab Verse, where Crazy Scientist NFTs do battle against others, as well as The Laboratory's decentralized exchange, Defi, yield farming, and even a crypto launchpad. In other words, The Laboratory NFT holders gain benefits across a full ecosystem of crypto projects, as well as some cool art. 

For instance, Crazy Scientist NFT holders can stake their tokens in a variety of staking pools, for 7 days, 30 days, and up to 90 days, earning increasing rewards the longer their tokens are locked up. 

The Laboratory stresses its belief that the community is the core foundation of every crypto project, hence its desire to create high utility for its NFTs. That explains why a majority of the revenue earned by its various projects is funneled back into community building. 

Ghetto Doves

The creation of the NYC Art Director, the Ghetto Doves live in an imaginative, edgy and fun urban world that’s seen through the eyes of a young, seven-character pigeon friend group that hails from five different boroughs of New York City. 

Each Ghetto Dove NFT holder’s goal is to collect one of each of the seven characters before the end of the minting process. Those who’re missing characters will be able to acquire them only through the secondary market. The crew's principles are said to revolve around honesty, creativity, and respect for all people, as is summarized by the seven young pigeon character friends. The variety of grey shades used in the GD artwork is meant to portray a framework for equality. 

The NFTs are being launched via a series of Airdrops called Re-Imagination that will highlight the GD’s playful imagination. To date, two drops have already taken place, on March 22, 2022, and April 4, 2022. 

Bankroll Bear Society

With one of the most laudable goals of all NFT projects, the Bankroll Bear Society has set itself the mission of combating deforestation by planting trees in the real world. The Bankroll Bears are a group of 5,000 intelligent animals residing in “The Forest”, a Cronos-based metaverse that serves as a beautiful, pristine backdrop for the Bears to interact and network with one another. 

The project encompasses stunning artwork, long-term goals and vision, real-life utility, a tight-knit community, and metaverse elements and is all about building bankrolls that will be used for the common good in the real world. 

The Bankroll Bear Society’s first mission is to plant 5,000 trees in real-world forests before the end of its first roadmap, and following the completion of that mission, it will pursue yet more philanthropic ventures that are yet to be announced.
